Arne Quinze

»Chaos Life« – 25. November 2012 La Galleria Dorothea van der Koelen Venezia Venedig, Italien

Born in 1971, Arne Quinze began his artistic career as a graffiti writer, even then distinguishing himself by the use of the dripping technique. Today, he continues his constant dialogue with himself and with society through the creation of large and small sculptures, drawings, paintings and big installations on public spaces. The basic elements of his work are the use of different types of wood or steel coated with fluorescent paint, and the reference to the themes of urbanism and social interaction. What guides the work of Arne Quinze is the continuous research of his own identity and the close observation of the human world around him, which direct his artistic researches towards the possible creation of an idealistic city in which all individuals can connect and communicate with each other through art. His public installations are out of conventions and challenge the passers-by in the city centers of Belgium (Cityscape, Rock Strangers), Germany (The Traveller), France (Camille), Lebanon (The Visitor), China (Red Bacon) and the United States (Uchronia).

For the first time in Venice will be exhibited the wonderful works entitled "Chaosbox" and "Bidonville." The "Chaosbox" are glass boxes filled in (with saturation more or less intense) with wood sticks glued together and painted in a fluorescent red color, with a mirror in the background. These compositions are designed by the artist like self-portraits that illustrate the multiplicity of thoughts and inspirations present in his head. They are an expression of life and artistic creation enclosed in a protected but isolated world, where interaction with others is not possible. On the other hand, the "Bidonville" are presented as a nude constructions of painted wood that establish a direct, almost tactile, contact with the observer. Result of the artist researches in the urbanistic field, these works take inspiration from the brazilian favelas, so similar in their structural organization to great metropolis, and so representative of the way we live together, common to all human cultures.
